Ok, Excelsior and Thomas Edison State.
This whole credit for your portfolio and then testing out and credits earn thing has me all confused. How does someone earn credit by their portfolio? How does someone earn credits by testing out. I still don't get how this all works.

    :(

Testing out - you take a standardized test in an area of your choice (say calculus), depending on the score you get you will be assigned so many credits (0 to ?).

Portfolio - based on the syllibus for a course of your choice (say Phtography) you put together a book showing what you already know on this topic. The school evaluates your portfolio and assignes you credits (0 to ?) for already knowing this topic.

If you are seeking a degree in photography this works well, but you could end up with a whole bunch of credits you do not need. Of course this can happen if you attend a regular school program (for my undergradute degree I needed 165 credits, but I graduated with 190 because several of the credits were not needed in my major.

Take above link. It's all there.

Testing CLEP, DANTES etc - pass a test get credit for a course.

Portfolio - document learning outside academics that equates to a course and get credit for the course (TESC does this best)
