There is a new report from USNWR on Americas best Graduate Schools. Enclosed in the wrapped package is a special 20 page report titled " Learning online ". It's a very interesting piece.

Hopefully mainstream America will continue to embrace DL and major Universities will continue to expand programs.

I am sure that I am missing some very good schools in this but I have now begun to notice some majors schools ( USC, Stanford, Virgnina Tech ) have SOME DL in some very limited disciplines, some good schools ( Penn State, Amherst ) now use the MBA as a sort of test and some have started short residency ( Harvard, Syracuse, Tufts ).

Does anybody have an educated guess as to when the major schools will begin to REALLY use DL as a tool? I would LOVE to see UCLA do something.

    Good reading.

UCLA currently offers over 50 distance learning courses through its UCLA Extension programs. these courses can be used to fulfill a UCLA degree. they also offer a good certificat program in online teaching for faculty who wish to teach online courses.

The latest issue of Bears' Guide lists some 250 or so universities that offer full degree programs via distance learning. Since "major" schools, such as Stanford, Duke and Penn State are now offering DL degree programs, I no longer view DL as a "fringe" part of education.
