Does anyone know of any reasonable priced correspondence or distance learning courses that be applied to a regionally accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering? Thanks!

    Grantham

There are so many good schools out there that are very affordable, but one that stands out in my mind is Grantham College of Engineering which is DETC accredited. You would need to check with your RA schools admissions as far as credit transfer.

Location (i.e. local schools) can be the best bargain, after that the lowest cost RA school is Texas Tech, followed by Colorado State both of whihc offer masters in civil engineering.

    Engineering Courses

Search the NUDC website for Engineering courses, there are quite a few available.

National Universities Degree Consortium (all Regionally Accredited)
    http://www.nudc.org

Consists of DL degree and course offerings from:
    Washington State University
    University of New Orleans
    Weber State University
    University of Idaho
    Kansas State University
    University of South Carolina
    Colorado State University
    University of Missouri
    Mississippi State University
    University of Alabama
    Oklahoma State University
    University of Houston System

Another great resource for finding distance learning courses is the Excelsior College DistanceLearn Database at http://distancelearn.excelsior.edu/ . Highly recommended.

The University of North Dakota offers the only Distance Learning Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (not engineering 'technology') that I can find. They also offer Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering Bachelors Degrees. See http://www.conted.und.edu/dist_engr/ . It is RA and ABET accredited.
The Civil Engineering Curriculum, aka 'Status Sheet' for UND Civil Engineers is located at http://www.und.edu/dept/sem/sheet.PDF .
Since the UND program looks kinda expensive keep in mind that you only have to complete the last 30 credit hours with them in order to earn the degree from UND. The freshman through junior classes can be taken through any school that offers them as long as UND will accept them in transfer. Be careful about that though, and always check with an advisor.

UND says that financial aid is available for eligible students in a distance degree program, so price might not be that big a consideration. Check it out.

    Regionally Accredited

Do you mean regionally accredited or ABET accredited?

  8. FWIW, USQ is the only Australian university to offer an accredited (by IEAust) DL Bachelor's degree in engineering. It's an 8 year (part-time) program with compulsory residencies.

To answer the earlier question, I was in fact looking for RA engineering classes with the assumption that they would be ABET accredited as well. I am not aware of any ABET civil engineering courses that are not RA as well, but if you do I would be interested in hearing about them (as long as they are correspondence or distance learning in nature). Thanks!

I'd be interested in hearing more about the Australian distance learning engineering program. Does anyone have any feedback about this program? Thanks!

    Hi Dude-

I am currently enrolled in the School of Engineering and Mines with the University of North Dakota.

Their Chemical Engineering program is ABET and RA accredited.

    Go Sioux!!!!

    ...And good luck to you.

P.S. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have; or, at the very least, inform you of whom to contact at the University.
