Over a dozen years back, I took one of the credit exams offered by TESC. I've tried to wrangle a transcript from them many months ago--I've emailed a query weeks ago (perhaps the exam results have been deleted after some period? I wondwered)--I've even tried faxing a transcript request from TESC, but no reply... WHAT'S up with this? WHAT'S up with TESC? WHY no response? MUST I phone them? WHAT'S their deal? --Orson
Hello Orson, I would request a transript with appropriate fee mailed ground UPS. I would then wait four days and track it with the person that signed for it. When you have the name of this person contact the registrar. There are alot of inner office type problems that really hurt TESC. I am currently requesting some transcripts and will use the above method. Hille

FINALLY! Finally, I called the registrar's office at TESC. It seems they had to "reconstruct" my transcript. After another week, I got my transcript. I took only one TECEP exam in 1990. Were not these, then, graded exams? I recall recieving an "A." Now, however, they don't, and so the transcipt is changed to reflect no grading. Should I complain about this? It doesn't strike me as eihter fair or honest of them to change the rulse proactively.... --Orson
Re: FINALLY! The earliest catalog I have is 1993 (it's in Acrobat format if you need it.) At that time, TECEPs did *not* have letter grades attached. If you can come up with (or, dare we dream, if the College can come up with) an earlier catalog edition which supports you, then absolutely: Yes. Loudly. My only substantive complaint with TESC centers around its New-Jersey-State-Issued-Sprawling-and-Unconcerned-Bureaucracy. Earlier this year, it took an in-person visit by me to straighten out a transcript issue (wrong degree posted to the transcript-- oops, no?) that should have been resolved with a single brief, toll-free call. Be prepared for a correspondence battle.
Just what we need, more whiners . . . People, when will you realize that e-mail and faxing will not accomplish anything with any school? All you had to do was pick up the phone in the first place. Incidentally, TECEP exams have never been graded - they have always been pass-fail (noted as CR on the transcript).
Yawn. Very helpful advice, Steve. From which part of the thread did you divine that nobody tried calling TESC? Fact is, if TESC (or any other DL institution, for that matter) is unresponsive to FAXed requests, or to "real mail" correspondence, or to e-mails-- all of which TESC pushes HEAVILY as alternatives to calling, incidentally-- then yes, they deserve to have their genitalia whacked. It's not whining. It's demanding competent customer service.
Steve is right (although he was a little snotty about it. Lets start a thread and whine about how rude he is!) Calling does get the job done quicker than email (atleast it did at Excelsior. I would imagine it would be quite the same at TESC). It shouldn't be that way.. You pay a crap load of money to enroll in TESC, you should expect FAST service (beit email or voice). Best Regards, Bill
