Ok, what about this college CONCORDIA COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY http://www.concordia-college.net Anybody have any input on them. Are they really going to give me a degree because of my experience. They also say that they are accredited. How legitimate are they? Also, if they aren't worth looking into who is? I have a Associates degree in Business Administration from a community college. But I really would like to get a BS degree now. I work 9 to 5 everyday in an accounting department and don't really have the big money to go to a big college. Who is worth looking into as far as online colleges for not that much money? thanks MR. Sky
How much is "not that much money?" It matters. How do you want to study? Correspondence courses, online courses, independent study, credit by examination, degrees by learning contract, these are all available from different schools. (I know you mention "online colleges," but that encompasses a lot.) Consider Bellevue University, University of Southern Queensland, Excelsior College, Thomas Edison State College, Jones International University, Union Instutute and University, UNISA, and about a thousand others. Search the threads of this board for ideas about schools. Look at available resources, including Bears' Guide, the most authoritative and comprehensive book on this subject. Go to your local library and check out books on distance learning in higher education. Finally, post your questions here and you'll find many people smarter than me to help you. Good luck!
Also check out Empire State College part of the SUNY system in NY. They offer a degree in Business Administration totally online through the Center for Distance Learning. Their website is www.esc.edu
This says it all about their "accreditation": Accreditation by DGAA is not an analysis of individual university academic programs, but a measure of the acceptability of the college degree by major corporations worldwide.
The DGAA has metamorphosed several times since its original incarnation as a single page hanging off of Capitol University's site on one of the free hosting providers. Concordia C&U is most notable for having had a map on their site, pinpointing their facilities in Sioux Falls. The "campus" was a business services provider, Trinity C&U having already staked out the local Mailboxes, Etc. for their "campus". Several months after their mid-2000 appearance on the net, Concordia C&U split for the BVI along with its sister school, Capitol U. Both subsequently moved again to the Commonwealth of Dominica. Possibly the only good thing that can be said of Concordia C&U and Capitol U. is they provide so many documents in their graduation packages that one would have a complete set of placemats for the dinner table.
I saw no reference to leftsa or lutefisk on their site! So how could it be geared towards the Lutheran market?
It's lefse, and us pore Hungarian Lutherans have no idea what it is. Almost every college associated with the Mo Synod Lutherans is named Concordia something or other. The ELCA has a Concordia College, too (Moorhead, Minnesota???). Then there's the Concordia university in Quebec, I think, that has nothing to do with Lutherans. The one mentioned here does seem to be, uh, milling about in the crowd.
