Greetings, I have been contemplating using Lawrie Miller's plan to get my degree. My problem is that I want to get my degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management ( I am a certified club manager) and I know I can get this degree at TESU, not Excelsior. Can someone provide me with a similar plan that they used to get their degree from TESU? As detailed as possible including costs, please. Don't worry about the HRM aspect, just the basic degree.
Also, please let me know if you used portfolio assessment and what that experience was like. Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!!

    Hey John,

One thing to check out for starters, if you haven't yet, would be the articles in this DB. There are two sections written, one on "questions and answers" and one on the "portfolio process." Also, just write TESC and ask for a full catalog. That should get you started.

All of the requirements and costs, including the catalogs and major requirements, are available on the TESC website. Assuming that you do mean TESC.

Yes, I do mean TESC. My fault, I thought they were University, not College. Anyway, I understand where their information is located and I know how to piece it all together. Rather, I was looking for the quick advice on what CLEP and DANTES tests to take to satisfy degree requirements, similar to what is shown on Lawrie Millers site as it pertains to Excelsior College. Just looking for the same info for TESC. In addition, I know that is lists the costs, but I am looking for advice on how to get the degree at the LOWEST cost and someone out there has probably figured all of this out already!

    Low cost

Take all 25? FEMA courses, if they fit in your program.

Low cost - how about free. Works at TESC.

    Hi John

Part of any education is putting together a plan and executing it. Even Lawrie's page is just a guide. By thoroughly reading his page and the TESC site I believe you can put together your own plan quite easily. If cost is the major concern include as many CLEP and DANTES tests while avoiding regular classes, TESC tests and EC tests. Why don't you outline your plan here and perhaps Lawrie, Tom, Rich or Steve could point out any improvements? In any event good luck in your search.

Good Morning, As you research your degree see if there is an option to do any site based exams in your area. These would be end of semester exams at a local community college. Camden County College offers these for $30. for matriculating students. I am wondering if you registered there if you could take the exams with a proctor. If I had been aware of this particular option my husband could have been done his second BA journey faster. Here is the address www.camdencc.edu. I have nothing to do with school but feel it is an untapped option for those who need or want a high speed BA. This school has an agreement with TESC. Have a good day. Hille

Thanks for your help everyone. I will formulate a plan and post it for "tweaking". I am waiting for Club Manager's Association to get with ACE to come up with a credit proposal for my certification and education gained to get my cert. In the meantime, I am getting ready for clep and dantes exams. Also, gathering all of my military records and other certificates, etc. Once I get it all together, I will post the situation and plan.

    thanks again.....
