I think I might be able to live with this rejection. Now if the bank had turned down our refinance loan, then that would be different!

Still, it was a surprise when I tried twice just now to sign on to distancedegree.net (after incidentally just reading what one poster said was a shocking attack on another on that forum) and received the message:

    "This email address is banned..."

Must have upset someone. Sigh, oh well, now I'll have to find something profitable to do:rolleyes:

    Same Happened to me!

They must have a lot of time in their hand to create a list of banned email.

I give, who banned you this time? And if it was who I think, why even bother to check?

I don't think it's a big secret that DistanceDegree.net caters to the unaccredited/state approved crowd, while this forum is more for the RA/Nationally Accredited people.

By their nature, I always assumed that DistanceDegree.net would give more leeway in regards to controversial points of view (even though I think we err on the side of free speech in that regard here), but these reports of at least 2 people being banned is not encouraging.

One would think that a forum that goes weeks at a time without a new post would welcome any sort of new input.......

I was never a poster and had not looked at the forum until yesterday. I tried to "enroll" or "register"so that I could post. Tried couple of times. Kept coming up, "This e mail address is banned." Maybe it was an error...or maybe I get too opinionated here whether right or wrong...don't know . was just a surprise like when the credit card company turns you down or your first attempt to get a date laughs at you. Oh well!

    FYI

This message was posted on the website on July 2, 2002.

As a service to all users and the forum moderators, we have banned yahoo and hotmail addresses. Most all our SPAM comes from these addresses.

So if your trying to register and you receive an error that you are banned, it's becuase your using one of the aove e-mail providers. Just use a different e-mail address and all will go well.

    Sorry Bill

At the last meeting of the membership committee, I accidently dropped a black ball into the pot, when your name came up.

I think distancedegree.net would welcome you as a member but methinks they may be having technical problems regarding new members. Just a guess.

They have certainly welcomed individuals who are more abrasive and self-rightous than youself and welcome their opinions.

    Perhaps just technical.

But, no one is more self righteous than I. But keep that under your hat as I have some folks here fooled.

Am I wrong? Am not to up on the several providers of service, but supposed that AOL was not Hotmail or Yahoo. Were it not, then I was just pointing out that such a statement should not prevent my registration.

Your correct it shouldn't. But not much is going on at that website anyway.

Try again, maybe it is a glich in the system.

They saw the error of their ways and will now welcome you to the fold. Apparently AOL was banned too, but is now accepted.

    Thanks Dennis

But you know these forums are like chocolate covered donuts to a fat man who needs exercise and diet. Instead of studying I get into good natured, fun argumentation with Russell, for example. I need to discipline myself to reading and posting on only certain days and times. But I do really appreciate those who make this treat available to me. Thanks to them!

All of us may be banned

This appears to be an attempt to block out any of us here from joining. I got banned at work the other day and I sent them an email asking why...they never opened it. I tried to use my email at work...the banned that one too!

Screw em!! This is a great place to be anyway...I just wanted to see what they were like and they gave me the brush off (along with others I see). I would tell them to go to he** or worse...go to a Degree Mill!!!!!

I was still able to get in and appear to be in good graces. However, I have hardly posted.

I've posted about 130 times over there, challenging many of "their" cherished beliefs. While confronted constantly, I've not been "banned."

I also have had no problems getting in. It was my understanding that yahoo, hotmail and aol emails were banned.

I bashed K-W over there but no one disagreed. ;) Someone else just responded that K-W gave state licensed schools a bad name. I didn't get banned. ;) I didn't notice any particular unaccredited schools that seemed popular but must admit that I didn't look around that much.

Re: All of us may be banned

No it isn't. I post there occasionally, feel free to disagree with anyone (just like here), and have never had any trouble from the management.

My understanding is that they were having trouble with spam or something coming from AOL, so they banned it. Now it's unbanned.

Distancedegree.net is new, and their management is still learning on the job. It's just not operating as smoothly as Degreeinfo.com yet.

So give them a chance. It isn't a bad group.
