Hi all, this is my first post, but I have read this thread off and on for a year or so.

I want to know what opinions there are on the (RA) Fielding Institute (MA in Org. Mgmt.) and the (RA) Hope International U. (MS in Mgmt).

I have never heard of Hope, they are located in CA. Found then on a net search.

I am intrested in getting a masters in leadership, or organizational management. Any one know of any other DL programs out there?

I have checked out UoP, (very expensive)
and also Ft. Hayes State U. Ft. Hayes seems good, but it's a Masters in Liberal Studies Leadership. The name seems strange???

I am trying to go this way vs. MBA, etc because I am not the best at finance and accounting.

Thanks for any help and opinions!

    I like Hope!
    Never heard of it before.
Pretty good website for a less-known-christian school.
What I like most ist this statement:

Do I have to be Christian to attend the University?
No. Hope International University provides an opportunity for all students, but it also places the Bible at the core of the curriculum, believing that every well-educated person should know its [Bible] truth and be persuaded to live by it. Hope is committed to helping each student prepare for a lifetime of professional and voluntary service to God. If this is your goal, then Hope is certainly the place.

    ;)

    That´s really cool.

Hope International University is accredited by:
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges

That´s RA, so their degrees should be alright.

Nonetheless, there are also a few specialised MBA programs that don´t require finance & accounting classes, I think I´ve seen.
I´m gonna search tomorrow, maybe I can relocate them (there was a British one I remember that has an Entrepreneurship focus)

Furthermore, I think TESC has a M.Sc. in Management. Looked at that one?

    Greets,
    Trigger

I definately have trouble with that statement. While knowing the Christian Bible seems worthwhile being persuaded to live by it may be going to far. What if I know the Bible but am of another religous view? They want me to serve a Christian God, but maybe I am not Christian. What if my goal is to serve those in suffering and need but not God? Would they be equally willing to serve my needs? Without knowing more I would be apprehensive.

    Hi, Joe. Welcome to Degreeinfo.

Jonathan Liu, a contributer to this board, has an excellent distance learning website that specializes in graduate level business and management. Here's his MA/MS in Management page:

Given the current climate in the business world, in the post-Enron, post Tyco, post-Worldcom era, I think that anyone interested in corporate management better get more than just his big toe wet in the accounting and finance area. CNBC just had an article bout CEOs who where requiring that each of their department heads certify their departmental financial reports.

Anyway, take a look at the new electronic MBA at Marist College. At $15,000 it isn't the most inexpensive, but certainly a lot less than a bunch of others.

Let me clarify a little on why I am more intrested in a MA Org Mgmt, MA Org Dev and / or a
MA Leadership vs. a traditional MBA. When I stated that I am not the best at finance and accounting that is true, however, I have a Minor in Business at USF and have taken several courses through out my career in accounting and have been responsible for P&L.

My logic for looking at a MAMO, or simular degree is due to my background, (Ex active duty Army officer and current active Army Reserve officer), in middle management in my civilian career (operations supply-chain managememt & safety managemet) that this type of degree will complement my experience and give me a little edge.

As far as Hope Intl. , I personally don't like a religious theme, I just ran into them on a net search.

I just need help from all you experts!

    THANKS!

Fielding is great. They were one of the first short-residency doctorate-granting schools to become accredited. Under WASC, no less.

Fielding's degree requirements are rather unflexible, much like a traditional university. What is flexible is how you demonstrate mastery of those requirements. Also, Fielding requires very little residency--but expects somewhat more.

Their faculty is really good--please check ther listing on their website.

Fielding's degrees are not easy, and they're very expensive. Expect to take 3-5 years to complete a doctorate.

If I ever get a chance to take a Fielding degree fully funded (after my Union Ph.D. is done, of course), I will. They are excellent.

    OK, try these...
    Organizational Mgmt

    Southern Cross U
    U of Phoenix
    Leadership
    Baker C.
    Duquesne U
    Southern Christian U
    U of Pretoria
    UNISA

  9. Also check out Capella University's MS in Organization and Management. I don't know if this master's degree program requires any residencies.
