    Hi,

I am writing on behalf of a friend of mine who wants to take some basic accredited undergraduate courses. What is the lowest cost per course for accredited DL undergraduate courses in the U.S.? This person must take courses via DE/DL because she resides out of the country.

Background info: She is not interested in pursuing a degree or completing a program, just taking a few courses. The general education courses is really what she is seeking. Her English is excellent (!) and she already has some college courses in Sweden in Art.

Any information or suggestions you all could make would be great! I really appreciate the informationn that I find through this forum. Thank you very much in advance!

Texas Tech seems to have a nice selection of reasonably priced dl courses.

Two sources for distant courses are:

U.C. Berkeley web site (http://learn.berkeley.edu/). I selected a course at random (anthropology) and cost is $510 for a 4 semester unit course (or $128/unit). Some UCB on line courses have a 12 month period in which to complete it. Of course U.C. Berkeley is a world renowned school

Cerro Coso Community College (http://cconline.cerocoso.edu/) where a typical 3 semester unit course is $435 (or $145/unit).

These costs are for out-of-state and foreign students. California resident costs are lower (at least for Cero Cosa).

If your friend is not interested in a degree program then why pay all this money. One could just buy the course text book, keep abreast of developments on line and in journals at your local library, and maybe attend a conference, and learn the same material (come to think of it one might then pursue CLEP or portfolio credit).

    Good luck.

You can get three years US university credit or two years of a British degree by taking the 18 exams of the British based Association of Business Executive exams.
