Last year, the concentration requiements for a concentration in histoy from Excelsior College changed to include one non-western history course or exam. For now, DANTES Intro to the Modern Middle East fits that bill in the credit-by-exam department. But no one offers anything else (unless by correspondence or trad classroom work). However, with rising interest in world affairs,it seems there is growing interest and demand for other exams, for instance, World History, or Intro to Modern Global History... Will Excelsior or TESC pick it up? Or will this be left for Ohio University or University of North Carolina to pick up? This seems like a money making opportunity, to me--who's game? --Orson
What about Dantes? I thouhgt Dantes had an exam "Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union." THis sounds like a non-western history course to me!
Does it? At first glance it may appear to be so, but a good portion of the USSR was in Asia. I don't think the Soviet Union was a Western Country. It was too isolated for too long from the West (besides Karl Marx, of course)before and during its existence.
