I was wondering if anyone out there has taken the Principle of Management CLEP exam. I am going to take it in a couple of months. Was the exam difficult? What study guides or books would you recommend? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,

I took and passed this exam a couple of years ago.

The only study guide I used was by Comdex (sp?).

If you have a good background of the fundamentals
of management/leadership principles ... and study
the material you will be fine.

It is not "easy", but fair, especially if you have a background
in the workplace of actually using such knowledge daily.

    Everything Billy says is true.

I just studied the Comex CLEP study guide (Intro to Management/Princliples of Managment?), by Donald Hovey over two or three evenings. The exam is fair but decidedly not difficult.

If you've read or studied much social psych or organizational psych--then it's an easy "A" with the help of this prep manual.

Good luck--but there's no reason to sweat it with such help as this book provides. Iin fact, I bet you could pass the TECEP (upper division credit) management exam with this too!

I also took the CLEP Management test several months ago. After taking the quiz in the College Board's "Guide to CLEP examinations". I found I scored high enough to take the test without study. I passed at what ACE/Excelsior considers A level. By the way I picked the CLEP book up at our local Goodwill store where I have also picked up several textbooks for various CLEP tests. I have also used the local library both for CLEP preparation and even for a text for a local college class. Good luck.

I also took this test a few months ago and passed with an "A". Like Dave, I did the review test and found I didn't need further study. As has been mentioned elsewhere on this board, it makes sense to follow Lawrie Miller's approach of beginning with taking the sample tests to figure out what, if any, portion of the material to review. If you haven't yet done so, I recommend that you explore Lawrie's website at http://www.geocities.com/ba_in_4_weeks/mainmenu.html

    Good luck with your studies,
    mayer
