I happened on a new (to me) MOOC called Future Learn. It looks nearly identical to edX but consists entirely of Australian universities. www.futurelearn.com

    Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FutureLearn

Like edX and other MOOCs, you can take classes for free, but you can also bundle courses together for certificates. It appears as if you can also earn a graduate degree or certificate too.

I'm so entirely unfamiliar with the Austrailian education system, maybe someone more up on this can decipher if this would "count" as credit in the USA.
They offer a graduate certificate that looks interesting for me, but at $2300 US, I would be too afraid I couldn't use the credit toward college teaching. In addition, they have a super cool non-graduate credit certificate that issues "CPD Points" - also in my lane, but just under $900. Ugh.

Anyone have something good/bad to add??

FutureLearn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Open University in the UK. It has partner institutions from around the world. However, their degree programs are only offered by Deakin University, which is in Australia.

I have taken some of their MOOCs, which I enjoyed. It has been over a year since I have used the site, so my memories are a little vague. It's been one of those years.

EDX seems to be much more affordable.

I took some classes, got verified certificates for $50 and $100.

Their programs for professional certificates or micro masters appear half a price of future learn.

Micro Masters credential in Data Science is 4 courses the total cost is $1260 - University of California San Diego.
MicroMasters Credential will count towards 25% of the coursework required for graduation in the Curtin program.

Or Rochester Institute of Technology MicroMaster credential in Cybersecurity is at $1200 and it's awarded after completion of 5 courses.

RIT program edX MicroMasters Credential will count for 9 credits toward a Master of Science in Computing Security Degree (which is a total of 30 credits).

True, and I'm a big fan of edX, however, the reason I asked, is because Future Learn has a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education (Deakin University) which would be great for ACTUAL grad credit if recognized as such in the USA.

I understand, especially when Curtin University charges $12,000 for their graduate certificate in Diabetes Education.
As far as credit transfer or recognition in the USA I think it will depend on the policy of US institutions.

The program you are looking at is Professionally Accredited in Australia in addition to the recognized university.
But the US is very picky about non-US healthcare education. So you have a valid concern.

All depends on how you want to apply the graduate credential in the US.

Maybe checking with the institution that you want to apply to can provide some additional info.

Thanks, I'm an educator, so this wouldn't be for health care or licensure requirements. I'm more looking at it toward my +18
