is this a real place? PG (Distance) Programme 2017 @ Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University TAMILNADU - SPORTS-UNIVERSITY
Seems to be. NAAC shows it as accredited with a B++ grade (they grade the universities they accredit!) You can find it on p. 7 of 'universities' in Tamil Nadu state, here: Accreditation List
I thought it might be but I've never been the best at scoping out these non-US schools. So they have some interesting and unusual degree programs.
If I didn't see it right here, I would have thought a degree in Yoga to be quite a stretch. :chairfall:
Yeah, they do. Here's the Department of Yoga's webpage TAMILNADU - SPORTS-UNIVERSITY The university's whole web presence isn't very inspiring. And if one is going to be a DL student, that's important. Though this thing might not be online so much as correspondence. From poking around the links in the 'distance learning' box up on top, the masters in yoga seems to be a remote site program, offered in conjunction with lots of small yoga teachers and establishments, scattered around south India. So my initial impression is that it wouldn't be very appropriate for those of us outside India. A degree program in yoga can be presented in different ways. It can be treated as purely physical, as an exercise regime. Or it can be treated as a religious discipline, with inner work just as important as the somatic bodily aspect. Given that this is a physical education and sport university, I'd guess that they take the hatha yoga postures approach. But I didn't see any course list of statement of philosophy of the yoga department's website, so it's hard to say. It's all very cryptic.
