    Union Institute & University

Rich and Steve will tell us all stories about the golden years of Union and how it's not what it used to be and blah and blahblah. Well guess what? The sun keeps coming up in the morning and every day Union is still there, offering a bunch of DL degree on multiple levels. Their PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies is pretty unique and allows you to design a program that you can't find anywhere else. For some it might be their best bet or even their only shot. Check it out

Union was experimental and in my book always legitimate university.
If I earned a degree from Union in the 90s or now I would be proud of it. Yes, I remember The Union Institute and University's Ph.D. program that came under scrutiny by the Ohio Board of Regents, resulting in a Reauthorization Report in 2002.
There is no end to what some people can degrade, it's one thing to provide constructive criticism it's another one to bash and put down.
I work for top company and graduates of Union would not have any problem with their degree then or now when considered for employment.

There are rules of etiquette regarding revealing the content of private messages but there are indications that I was wrong by suggesting that Steve and Rich feel the same way about their alma mater.

    Blah and blahblah.

But seriously, while it may surpise Kizmet and others, but I would endorse Union these days. Make no mistake, I think they sold their soul when they dropped the old Union Graduate School model to kiss OBR’s ass and clean up their act, but they did clean up their act. Keeping the point to what they do now, they do it well, and they’re one of the few non-profits in the game. Their tuition may be ridiculously high (in the range of $1,200 per credit for the doctoral programs), but so is everyone else’s tuition.

But let’s hijack this thread and talk about something near and dear to our hearts…

    Rich.

Better yet, let’s not talk about him, but to him, since he’s reading this. I don’t look at his profile often, but every time I have done so over the past year, it always reflects that he has visited the forum “today” or “yesterday.” In other words, Rich, you come here almost every day to check on our latest adventures.

Well, Rich, it’s about time you got your ass back here as an active participant. Not only are you one of the most qualified participants ever to visit this venue (even holding one of your own doctorates in the field), you’re damn funny when you want to be, and your information and opinions are usually spot on. Besides, with the Trumpettes trying to take over the entire world, including DI, we could use another articulate liberal in this joint.

It’s time to stop lurking, Rich, and come back out of your closet. (No, not that closet.) I even promise not to pick on you when you act like an ass. See? I’m already slapping myself for saying that.

Yeah, what he said. Please come back Dr. Douglas! You are sorely missed here.
XVI.8: Confucius said, "There are three things of which the superior man stand in awe. He stands in awe of the ordinances of Heaven. He stands in awe of great men. He stands in awe of the words of the sages. The mean man does not know the ordinances of Heaven, and consequently does not stand in awe of them. He is disrespectful to great men. He makes sport of the words of the sages."

I too wish that Rich would come back. I saw him on LinkedIn awhile ago and requested a connection, but he declined it (politely). I don't know if he thinks I was the one who suspended him from here (I wasn't, I had nothing to do with it), but apparently he's still bitter about it.

It's a shame, we're a better place & better resource with him, and I like to think he got something out of being here, but life marches inexorably onward.
