What is USNY - Regents? I am assuming it means "The University of The State of New York"... but is there such an institution?

    Isn't "Regents" now "Excelsior?"

In case anyone is wondering, the motto of the State of New York is.... EXCELSIOR.

    Don't quote me.

Doesn't the University of the State of New York oversee education in New York State and it's directors are the regents.

Regent's College was a part of the University of the State of New York until it was privatized as Excelsior College.

If I am wrong, please correct me.

You're quoted. And your mostly right.

USNY is the Board of Regents for New York, controlling much (all?) of the educational activities in the state.

The Regents External Degree Program was run by the Regents (USNY) for many years. When they decided to privatize it, the name changed to Regents College. (Previously, degrees were awarded by the USNY.) The name change to "Regents College" was purposefully temporary, as the Regents wanted to allow the college to transition, yet didn't want to maintain confusion about their severed connection to it. "Excelsior College" was the result.

    Hope this helps.
