Great idea - well done. But "curated learning resources" sounds like a chalkboard menu at a hipster restaurant.

Well, it could be way worse, I guess - "curated artisanal learning options?" Great idea anyway. But I could not get it to come up. No how, no way. Construct reminds me somewhat of my favourite musical "mashup" app, "Tuneglue." I could get pleasantly - and fruitfully - lost in something like this, when it's working. I'll try again later.

Here's a site for pretty much the same purpose - that also uses the phrase "curated resources." Less graphical, but ... it DOES work right now. No Excuse List

Well, progress by inches. The Learn Anything site came up today, but when I put in a topic and pressed "enter" nothing happened. Wow. Why did I enter "programming?" Do I really want to learn it here? Try again tomorrow?

The Virtual Training Company - Now you all know that I'm not connected to this place but I'm going to give this a try. Maybe I won't buy the lifetime subscription but there are a couple of the social media marketing courses that I could use right now. Lots of different stuff. Even stuff for kids.

I tried Learn Anything on some obscure subjects of interest to me in the philosophy of science and metaphysics (it isn't just about computer programming, thankfully), and found that their tree structure seemed to make sense. The lectures that it led me to were good. (From Stanford, down the road.) But my preferred learning style isn't watching internet videos of university lectures. I wish that this led to more text-based resources. I'd rather read about something than watch somebody talk about it.

Still all in all, I like it and might find myself using it.

Edit: The videos might just have been an artifact of those particular searches. I just tried some others (logic this time) and got more text. I'm starting to kind of like this and it might be fun to play with and see where it leads.

Well, it's working FINE now. Dammit, it IS like my favourite mashup, "Tuneglue," which, unfortunately, has been discontinued. (Alternates abound.)

I got varied results - but that's on me, not the site. On the programming front, I put in "Javascript." Instant success - I got a lot of choices and got led to all kinds of media. A brief look at some told me the quality varied widely - opinionated blogs, YouTube tutorials, both good and not-so-good, written tutorials, some very good etc. etc. I could have kept busy for days!

OK - philosophy. Thanks, heirophant! Not my favourite, but we'll try. I put in a generic "Pre-Socratic Philosophy" - and got none. It did give me several kinds of Western Philosophy that WEREN'T Pre-Socratic. I think it takes practice and patience. Another time, perhaps.

This is not for five-minute answers. It's like archaeology - careful digging and much sorting. I'll go back...

This thing is hard to drive. Went back today, dissatisfied with my lack of results for Pre-Socratics. Tried particular names this time. I entered "Thales of Miletus" to see what happened. All I got was info on brain physiology, e.g thalamus, hypothalamus etc.

So I tried Thales' star student, Anaximander. More unrelated entries. I even tried "Karl Popper," the modern philosopher who wrote "Back to the Pre-Socratics" and a lot of other works. I was given a bunch of links to property and real-estate law.

It's no Wikipedia or any type of cakewalk, but just because I've fallen off the horse a couple of times, I'm not giving up. See ya.

https://learn-anything.xyz/ is not responding today -- again. I've had enough. Much less frustrating and more productive to simply use Google. Google NEVER leaves you with nothing - and having to rummage, due to variance in quality is no different. Easier, actually - as on Google, as opposed to learn-anything, you can see the site name instantly before you click - and know if it's a blog, a school, a professional association etc. And with Google, you can zero in on any minute aspect that particularly interests you AND make stipulations like FREE course in (whatever), PDF in (whatever) etc.

Tuneglue (r.i.p.) always worked for me. This similar, though non-musical construct - just doesn't. I'm out. Google is the better (and infinitely more reliable) aggregator, as I see it. YouTube University and I-tunes University are pretty darn good, too. I've got a shelf-load of lectures from those - Harvard, Yale, Oxford - MIT, you name it!
