Now that I have your attention..... I have had an American student make enquiries about studying our MA program. He wants to apply for the Federal Loan Scheme in the US to cover the costs. The degree is taught and conferred by the University of Adelaide so is, of course, equal to an RA program. Any advice on contacts in the US he must approach? Pretty please, some advice??? Cheers, George
He should contact the U.S. Department of Education directly. The school and program he seeks has to go through an approval process to allow him to participate in the student loan program. The school will be evaluated primarily on financial grounds, not academic. (It is presumed the host government does that.) The approved school is given an ID number which allows U.S. students enrolled in the approved program(s) to apply for their loans. This information comes from my own inquiry into the matter a couple of years ago, so I apologize if either I'm mistaken or things have changed.
Thanks very much Rich. I have contacted the student who went through the US Dept of Ed and it has all been cleared. So, we can accept US students into our online programs and they qualify for the Federal Loan scheme. Dennis - stick it where the sun don't shine Cheers, George
