Hello All, I am currently earning my B.S. towards mechanical engineering and I am taking summer courses from my university which is based near Chicago. I am working in Switzerland most of the summer, and will not have a chance to return to the US to take my exams. So I need an exam proctor I operate near Lausanne, but have no problem travelling via train. I'll try and be as responsive as possible to comments on this thread. I am working most of the day, so apologies if I am a little slow to respond.
Wouldn't your school be able to tell where, if anywhere, you can take the exams? I think you're but a hop, skip and an alp from France so that might expand the possibilities.
My school haven't told me anywhere in particular, they told me to find something. I've reached out to the regional universities but so far none have gotten back to me. I don't want to rely solely on the universities, in case they all fall through or decline, so that is why I posted here
What a horrible dilemma! But I digress . . . Check with your home university first to see if this is acceptable to them . . . Some schools allow exams to be proctored by a librarian. Is there a public library near you? If so, that might be a solution.
I once had an exam proctored by a librarian at a public library in the US. Other possibilities I would check out include high schools and police departments. Maybe check with the US embassy also.
I am an American taught British English So it the correct embassy but it also happens to have the most horrible opening hours for me, during the middle of the day. One of the regional universities has declined me so far.
You have a number of public libraries (bibliothèques) in Lausanne. You should go there and ask nicely if they can help (avoid phone/email). If that doesn't work out you could write an ad in the local paper asking for a teacher, graduate student, official... that could proctor you against a small compensation.
Some universities accept ProctorU, check with your school. ProctorU https://www.proctoru.com/ THE GLOBAL GO-TO for SECURE ONLINE TESTING Partnered with over 1,000 institutions worldwide
Update: I have found a proctor through my place of work which my school approved Thanks for your suggestions everyone
