    Thanks

...and before that, International Correspondence School, a major pioneer in this field, having been established well over a century ago to offer training to coal miners disabled with black lung disease.

By doing a search here, you should find quite a few mentions, under one of the three names. Some people have been a little snarky, since the same school offers meatcutting, locksmithing, and other non-academic stuff, and their marketing has been a bit aggressive at times. But they have recognized accreditation, and have met the needs of hundreds of thousands of students over the years.

If, however, you have a possibility of wanting to go on to a Bachelor's degree after their Associate's, be aware that a good many regionally accredited schools don't accept DETC-accredited degrees (roughly 2/3rds).

Hi Mary Anne, and welcome to the board. As John mentioned, if you have any inkling at all of continuing on to a Bachelor's or graduate program, you'll be much better served with a degree that has regional accreditation (RA) rather than the national accreditation (NA) that Education Direct/Harcourt has.

If you give us some idea of your background and interests (general business, marketing, etc.), I'm sure you'll get several helpful suggestions.

    Hello Mary Anne:

My wife is in her last semester of the ASB degree program at Education Direct. All ASB’s courses at Education Direct are reviewed and recommended by ACE for college credits. After completing her degree, she can transfer about 63 credits to an undergraduate program at one of the big 3s (Charter Oaks, TESC or Excelsior). I see her coursework for the ASB degree program are a little harder than coursework for a 2-year business degree program at our local community college. It also takes her two years to complete the ASB degree program. So many other regionally accredited two-year colleges offer distance learning 2-year business degree programs. In my opinion, they are the better choices.
