    American Equivalency from Canada

    Background:

Born/Raised abroad, high school in Canada, then went to the Toronto School of Business 20+ years ago
Have 2 certifications from there. C Programming And Systems Analysis as well as Micro Computer and Electronics Technology (so Software and then Hardware).
I have been working the USA for more than 20 years, I started as a Programmer/Analyst now I am a Senior Database Engineer /Analyst. I do mostly contracting and consulting.

Am thinking about just doing an online bachelors but have no idea what the equivalency is on the American side. I hit the border once for a visa and the company evaluated it out as an Associates.

I am just wondering if anyone knows what the equivalency is.

    Thanks

I think you need to provide a little bit more information.
Was academic credit granted, are these academic classes.
Some Universities offer classes that are not for academic credit,

In your case do you have transcript for each class, a syllabus etc.
You may want to have it evaluated by NACES member credential evaluation service.
Completing Bachelors degree using 20 year old credit can be challenging as well.
Some universities have expiration dates for old credit requirements.
Technology is advancing very fast so 5 year old credit may no longer be accepted for credit transfer, I think degree that will accept old credit can be such as Bachelors in general studies etc.
More details are needed about your certifications etc.
Initially my take is if these certificates are on academic level then 9 to 16 semester credit hours - just estimating Cprogrammin one class 3 credits, system analysis 3 credits if its a one class, and Micro computing class also if academic level 3 to 6 units.
Labs can be 2 units. So I can see 9 to 12 maybe 16 semester credits when 60 are needed for Associates, including college level general education component and sciences etc tec

You have EXP, doesn't seem there are any "courses" you can get equivalency from, but your certs may help.
Your best bet is to get your courses and certs evaluated at the Big 3 and Brandman , Hodges , Patten/WGU

I think you can get an online degree by doing the evaluation first from the college/university of choice.
Find the program/school you want to get a degree from and find out what you're missing, create an action plan.

My wife (Canadian) is completing a degree with Excelsior College, she had also certificates from several schools including Algonquin and Humbers and courses here and there. We used ACE for the evaluation of her credits and then sent them to Excelsior. They gave her about 60 credits based on her previous education . There is a possibility to get credit by portfolio evaluation of experience but the amount of work and money invested is perhaps more than actually taking courses somewhere else. She got credit also for foreign language (French and Spanish) by taking exams at SUNY. Finally, she filled credits with cheap credits from the University of Idaho and Pennfoster (ACE reviewed credits).
It takes a lot of commitment to do this, my wife has been doing it for several years as she takes only 6 credits per year. Tuition fees are tax deductible so there is not much money invested but the time and effort is the biggest commitment.
You might also want to try Athabasca U. in Canada, they have a BGS that can be filled with credits from several sources with a similar approach to Excelsior and it is a 3 year degree so it can be completed faster.
