I'm following up in reference to this thread; I just wanted to start a new topic with a more relevant title.

I finally received a response from IU. Here is my email to them, followed by their response:

So, it seems that the degree itself lists both Bloomington and Indianapolis, but the issue of transcripts still isn't clear. Since it's on the degree itself, you could probably just list "Indiana University Kelley School of Business, Bloomington, IN" on your resume, but if you have IUPUI transcripts sent to an employer for verification then it might cause suspicion and you'd have to try to explain the situation. On the other hand, if you list "Indiana University Kelley School of Business, Indianapolis, IN" on a resume, then it might lose some of the prestige factor if someone picks up on the Indianapolis vs. Bloomington distinction; the "Kelley School of Business" should help to offset this though, I think. I guess that the safest thing to do would be to list it as "Indiana University Kelley School of Business, Bloomington/Indianapolis, IN," but that might seem odd, too. I don't know, it seems like a uniquely strange and confusing situation.

I would not worry too much about this. Indiana Univ is an outstanding school period. I would personally list Bloomington, IN. Most HR depratments would verify only that you got the degree that you said and probably would not question the 2 different sites - afterall, you probably could not fit both cities on your resume anyways.

The correct thing to do is to put MBA, Kelley School of Business, Bloomington/Indianapolis, Indiana. It would not be correct to put only IU-Bloomington since some of the faculty come from IU-I.

I wouldn't worry: to most the Kelley name brand ought to be all you need. (Though this is the first time I have seen the name of a major business school of a flagship state campus (IUB) being included on the classes of a different campus (IUPUI)).

When in doubt, why hide what it really is as it can only lead to embarrassing questions? It is the on line version of an MBA program that is at least partially taught by faculty from a program that is among the top 25 in the nation. You would have to tell the HR person you did your MBA on-line anyway if they ask, so explaining the multiple campus thing is part of that conversation anyway. The fact that some of your classes are taught by IU-I professors does not diminish the accomplishment in my mind. Just be honest with yourself and anyone that reviews your resume. BTW, I bet the PT real time MBA students at IU-I have the same degree.

Having attended both IU bloomington and IUPUI (not in the MBA program mind you) I can say definitively that IUPUI is in no way considered "less prestigious." Many students have taken classes at both. All IU degrees show IU on the transcripts all Purdue (engineering, etc.) degrees sho Purdue as the University of question. IU's business school is highly regarded and at least in my neck of the woods (Indianapolis) no one would bat an eye at such a degree. There is my two cents worth! Good Luck!

You are correct that IUPUI has a relationship with both IU and Purdue and awards degrees from both - depending on the degree. For example, a business degree would be offered by Kelley through IU whereas an engineering degree would be awarded by Purdue.

I would suppose the "IUPUI" consideration should not be a consideration. IUPUI is approximatately 28,000 at this writing. Among other things, the IU school of law, school of nursing, and the med school all are on their campus. By the way, the med school is the 2nd largest training university for doctors in the country. To this end, the Kelley School of Business is the Kelley School of Business where it is awarded.
