California University of Pennsylvania (RA, state school) is now offering a 2-year Doctor of Criminal Justice degree, completely online. Tution is $640 per credit for PA-residents, $961 for non-residents. It looks like a very much practitioner degree, somewhat along the lines of Northeastern's Doctor of Law & Policy, just a HELL of a lot cheaper.

I wish this was available several years ago, before I switched my interest to psychology.

    Hi,
I actually spoke to a recruiter about this program last week. There is no dissertation required, just a comprehensive exam and a research portfolio, and the whole thing is online except for 2 five day residencies in the summers. That said, there is no flexibility in the scheduling and the program must be completed in two years. That means that non-PA residents would have to shell out 40,000 over two years, which is well beyond my tuition reimbursement limit. Also, to me anyway, the rigidity in the scheduling defeats the purpose of distance learning, especially when considering that the program is geared towards working law enforcement professionals.
