I am about halfway through my master of science in psychology program and was just wondering if there exists a place where one is able to take graduate-level psychology courses that could then be (at the discretion of the university) accepted for transfer credit. I know there exist websites where one can take MOOCS, but I haven't found any graduate level courses, unless I just haven't been looking in the right places.
Additionally, are the certificates obtained by MOOCS, if offered by regionally accredited schools, comparable to having taken the in-person version of the class at said school?

I think the standard practice is to go to the schools that offer MA/PhD in Counseling (or whatever) and approach them about taking a course as a non-matriculated student. Some will, some won't. Be careful about equivalency as the receiving school is not required to accept the credits simply because of a similar course title.

Hm, I hadn't considered that. Also, did you mean to put that link there? It just links me to the first page of the nursing and medical-related degrees forum, but to nothing specific.

There are no psychology MOOCs that can be used for college credit. There are a handful of schools that have a partnership with edX to award graduate credits if you are accepted to a specific program of theirs, but those programs are in business, environmental science, and computer science. The schools designing courses for edX and Coursera aren't the ones awarding the certificates; edX and Coursera are awarding the certificates. These certificates are not the equivalent of taking a course for college credit at an accredited school, whether online or on campus.

California Southern University makes it easy to take individual courses.

Another option, but probably not considered cheap.

Thank you for all of the great information. I found one of the courses I was looking to take at California Southern University, so I will contact my school to see if they would accept that to replace one of my required classes.
