An organization that I do not know with a bunch of university members that many of us have at least heard something about. Let's take a peek https://eadtu.eu/about-eadtu/about-eadtu
Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja in Ecuador is listed as an associated member. Here is what EADTU's website says about that type of membership:
Did anyone else read EADTU's "types of membership" page? It seems only non-profit universities can become members of that organization. That's odd and I don't know what to think about it.
Lamentable, but not unique. For example, the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada is the same way, which is troublesome because that organization holds a lot of sway over which Canadian institutions are recognized internationally.
Here's another "international" list The International Association for Distance Learning Having just gone into this list a bit I can tell you that it hasn't been updated in some time and some of the links are broken. There are also some errors related to the updates, e.g. University of the Air is now The Open University of Japan, etc.
It seems that list hasn't been updated since 2000, or so. Many links are broken and a few institutions on that list do not exist since about that time. One of the errors is also quite unusual: FernUniversiteit (Germany) instead of FernUnivertsität. I guess that's the result of cut and paste, and the original source was Dutch. Universiteit is the Dutch word for university. I think this is a better (less outdated) list: Institutional Members List | EDEN However, not all members of that organization are universities.
