Anyone have ideas for retrieving records from a closed DL college? A member over at my Homeschooling for College Credit group posted this question, and it's beyond my expertise:

"My degrees are from a non-regionally-accredited school that is now defunct. (BS, MS, PhD)... I am not currently working (mothering season!) but now that the school no longer exists, I'm wondering if my degrees really mean anything anymore. In fact, I don't even know where my BS and MS diplomas are-- I just have the PhD framed on the wall. Nor can I locate my transcripts.... I think I'm left with a fistful of nothing. Any words of wisdom?"

I asked her to share the name of the school here. Thanks!!

The relevant state agency that licenses higher education should either have these records, or at least know where they are housed.

The accrediting agency might be storing the records. Or maybe the accrediting agency had another school take over the closed school's records.

What was the name of the school? Online PhD even 10 years ago was rare correct?
