    Hi folks,

I recently finished an Excelsior MALS, and now I am thinking about taking additional grad units in religion/history, history of Christianity, something along those lines. But I am not willing to pay mega bucks for this. So, I wound up at the UK Open University website and, although I didn't find exactly what I was looking for, I did see that a post grad humanities
certificate was only about $3300. I suppose this is a consequence of Brexit, but whatever the reason the price is right. I also read that the OU is one of only a handful of UK universities that are RA in the States. That really surprised me.

However, what I did not find was a detailed description of the course of study for this humanities cert. I also couldn't figure out if taking classes without being formally enrolled in a program of some sort is a possibility.

Soooo...does anyone have any first hand experience with the OU? Or third hand, come to think of it. Anyone out there familiar with how these folks do things?

Thanks very much, and a Happy New Year to one and all.

The Open University of the UK is a large school that has focused on working adults for years. I was interested in their MBA which is triple crowned, a business thing. When I was looking through their degree offering, if I remember correctly, they do modules instead of specific courses. You'll get a module a semester, you self-study and work with it. Once it's done you have to do a proctored exam that covers it all, I think. It's been a year since I spoke with them. They are very friendly and open to walk with people, when I opened a chat online, they asked my cell number here in South Korea and called me straight away and had a chat for an hour. I'm doing an MBA from the states right now, but I'm still thinking about doing something with them later on. Chat, and ask them to call. They were more than happy to answer my questions about everything I could think of.

On the page linked below there is a brochure request form which, once you've completed it, will give you the information you are seeking. If not, they also provide a telephone number for additional questions. They have a good rep for responsiveness.

OK. Thanks for the replies. I've been brooding about the need for contact and to give them personal info, but...well, needs must I guess. I admire the idea of the OU very much, and the fact that it is RA in the States is "sugoi" , great, as we say here in Nippon.

What are you up to in Korea Catlin0915? EFL? That's my gig here in Tokyo. But I REALLY want to go home. How long have you been in Korea?

I did check out the CertHE, but as you say it is not a grad program, and I really need grad level. But I have been searching MAs in Europe, and found many that are free to EU citizens . I'm dual EU/States, so that would work - except the programs are not online. But, there is one program that is free, a Theology MA at the Norwegian School of Theology. Actually, I think this is free to anyone, EU citizen or not. It says it is accredited but A) what would that mean in Norway and B) what would that mean in the States? I'm trying to figure out how to investigate accreditation in Norway, and how it might translate to the US, but I confess my imagination is failing me here. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Wow. You rock, Kizmet. Thank you. I can't find the listed school on that website, but I will email the ministry, now that I know how to do it.

And I may have been led astray by an inaccurate website about the degree being online. It isn't listed as online at the school website. My bad for not double checking. But I will email the school also to make sure it is a physical presence degree.
