    Dear All

I currently have a degree and masters in Psychology and I decided to do my PHD online. I am not one of those who tries to complete a PHD in 6 months but I don't want to spend 5 years to finish either.

I want to know from your experience if you know of any PHD programs online that take a max period of 2 years or close in any area of study preferably with a UK university but I am interested in US as well.

    Thanks for your feedback.

I'm sorry but my answer is no. Besides, you are not qualified to enter into a PhD program "in any area of study." Maybe only Psychology. The British universities that have the largest number of online programs are Leicester and Birmingham, you can check them out.

If you have a reasonable number of genuine academic publications in scholarly journals, you might pursue a PhD by publication through a Brit or Aussie university. These can generally be obtained within the timeframe you cite, but mind you, you'd better have a pretty good track record and your research better include examples of statistical methodologies that show expertise equivalent to that obtained through a traditional PhD program.

Otherwise, I can't think of any valid means of obtaining a PhD in less than 3 years plus (and three years is on the extreme low end of the spectrum).

What's the rush??? PhD in 6 months... Depending on your area of study and what your dissertation is on, you wouldn't have a polished, finished piece. What are your motives for wanting to finish so quickly?

I wish it could be done in 6 months. I am in year 3 and probably need at least another 18 months. It was honestly harder than I thought and I think I had unrealistic expectations going into the program.

I'm 3 1/2 years in and have about 1 - 1 1/2 left. I consider myself pretty ambition and I still feel at this pace I'm moving too fast.

Do you work full time? If you don't, there are probably online universities that you can get a waiver to take 4 courses in each eight-week term. This would allow you to finish the coursework in a year and spend the 2nd year focused on the dissertation. This is an incredible pace and I don't know if anyone could mentally accomplish it. Also don't get sick as you won't be able to catch up. In these quick-terms there are typically big assignments due each and every week.

    Thanks for all your comments!

I am looking to finish my PHD in less time possible because I am already 35yrs old and by the time I finish, I will be close to my 40's. I will look into a few UK universities and see if I can find anything related to Psychology that does not take an extreme amount of time to complete,
