Azaliah in NM lost its DETC accreditation couple weeks ago. The school since had its name changed.

  2. Here's the text of a letter that Azaliah College in South Africa sent to its students in February:
    • In the light of the major transformation, which the South African Higher Education
industry is currently undergoing, the management of Azaliah Education Facilitators
(Pty) Ltd. reiterates its commitment to assist you in achieving your educational goals.

This is to certify that you are not only an appreciated student of Azaliah but all
contractual agreements between us will be honoured. We emphasize that after the
successful completion of your studies your qualification will be awarded to you at a
      graduation ceremony in your area.

If you need any assistance during the course of your studies you are welcome to visit
our campus at 219 Beyers Naude Drive (formerly DF Malan Dr.) or to phone our offices.

The purpose of this communication is to reiterate that Education Facilitators trading as
Azaliah College is continuing to serve enrolled students as before. Despite our differences
with the University of Port Elizabeth – of which you were cordially informed – our
commitment to students has not changed.

Due to a restructuring process some staff members who have assisted you in the past,
have unfortunately left the College. However, other staff members have been assigned
new duties to attend to your needs.

We encourage your active participation in your studies to further your academic skills
in order to serve your community and country as a whole.

      Yours sincerely
I have my doubts about whether the organization still exists in any functional sense.

I note that the University of Leicester no longer appears on the DETC list -- but the venerable royal-chartered university is going strong. Wonder what's up.

    a good sign for detc

decommisioning an institution every once in awhile suggests that detc is really serious about the accreditation process.
I think this suggests that over time detc will be taken more seriously by other college accreditation systems.
    All the best!
