    Hi,

I have a bizarre question. I guess I have a curious personality. I mentioned in a previous post I had enrolled at Charter Oak. I am in the middle of the credit transfer process now.

My question is, what does the degree look like from Charter Oak? Does anyone have a digital photo of their degree? Can anyone provide me a link?

    Thanks!

    What a Degree Looks Like

    No, I can't help you.

However, I am intrigued by the curiosity that so many people have, reference wondering what a degree looks like. To me, it's just a piece of paper to be filed away. I see many degrees hanging on office walls, but mine remains in the filing cabinet. While I'm very happy with my degree, I cannot bring myself to hang it on my wall because I don't want people to think that I'm conceited.

I've seen your question asked a dozen times on this forum. Why are people so curious to know what a degree looks like? What difference does it make?

This isn't meant to be flip, nor suggest the question isn't important, but....it looks great on one's resume. No one will look at the diploma.

My original National University diploma was very much like a corporate certificate of training. It was printed in a business-like font, and it was "portrait" instead of "landscape." When I requested a replacement a few years ago, the one they sent was in landscape with much more traditional calligraphy. But neither mattered. (I favored the former for its uniqueness, and was relieved to find it in a stack of things I thought were lost.)

My USNY diplomas (3) were all very traditional. I wonder what Union Institute and University's look like.....:D

    The looks of a degree

I am not sure what prompted me to ask the question of what it looks like. I hold a Canadian diploma for a College here. I guess I was just thinking or wondering if it would be the same or similar.

Point taken on the resume as well. I can't remember the last time I have seen anyone's degree at a work environment.

    Thanks!

Many schools have two versions, the one the give you when you graduatee, and a second that you can purchase through the alumni society that looks great framed. My undergraduate school (Michigan Tech) does that and I have both, I have the orignial filed away somewhere and the pretty one framed and hanging on the wall. All anyone has ever asked to see has been certifeid copies of my trnascript which has a sloppy annotation saying I graduated.

Yes, I may be able to help you with this one. My wife just received hers and it comes in a very nice blue holder with "State of Connecticut" on gold on the front with the state seal. Then when you open it, the diploma is on basic paper (for a diploma) with no borders. It states what most diplomas state however it only shows the degree of Bachelor of Science. It does not state anything specific about her individual degree path. It has the state seal at the bottom and it is signed by the President of Charter Oak and the Chair of the Board for State Academic Awards.

    Hope this helps!!

As mentioned already, no one that matters is going to judge your diploma on style points. Out of my 3 college diplomas (A.S. B.A. and M.A.), the Associate's diploma is the most impressive and "real" looking (although it is smaller than the others).

One of the former regulars here whose name escapes me at the moment did describe his Charter Oak diploma when it arrived. From what I remember, it sounded like nothing to be ashamed of. OTOH, I've seen a scan of an actual Oxford University (U.K.) Ph.D. diploma, and it was very unimpressive, it looked like someone typed in the information with a ribbon & ink typewriter. Like Rich said, it's not the diploma that matters, but what it signifies.

    check the threads

I seem to recall that some people did put their degrees up for viewing on this board. You may want to check the threads. I don't remember which degrees/certificates.
    All the best!
