American Military University held its commencement ceremony today, at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, DC. I was one of one of seventeen graduates in attendance. Fourteen Master of Arts in Military Studies, two Bachelor of Arts, and one Associate of Arts degrees were conferred.

Mr. Thomas E. Ricks, Military Correspondent for the Washington Post was the commencement speaker.

My family and I had a wonderful time. Today was a bright sunny day in Washington, so my family spent much of the morning taking in the sights.

More than anything, I enjoyed meeting AMU professors and administrators in person. Before today, I had only actually met one of my professors.

Today's ceremony was definitely a motivator for me to keep-on, keeping-on with my MBA studies.

    :D

Thank you! I started the MBA, in May, with Liberty University. Now that I have some momentum, I want to keep on going. I chose Liberty for various reasons. Most of all, it appears that I will be able to complete the program even when deployed (this is a must, as I am returning to sea duty).

Are you taking advantage of the scholarship program they offer?

    SCHOLARSHIP

    James,

Yes, if you are asking about AMU. I completed my BA at virtually no cost. I used Navy tuition assistance and received AMU's 25% "scholarship", which covered tuition costs. Utilizing AMU's book grants, I also received over $1000.00 worth of textbooks. My only costs at AMU were the application fee ($25.00), transcript evaluation ($50.00), and graduation fee ($100.00).

I am paying my 25% share of tuition and purchasing the textbooks myself for the MBA. Ouch! I may get some additional financial assistance from Liberty.

    Re: SCHOLARSHIP

Check out www.fastweb.com as well. They have scholorship programs and by your active duty military status...I am sure that there is something in there for you if you are willing to follow the steps it takes to get some of them (i.e., write essays, make a video-taped presentation, etc.)

    Regards,

    Mike
