Other than this forum ( the best one btw ), DD and those nuts over at DLT what was the other board that was up for awhile. I liked the forum as they were very focused on religious education. That board died out years ago but though it might be up still?

It was degree.net. Man the owner really let that site go to crap.

The op specifically said it focused on religious education.

I was the OP Ted...I just remembered them having a good section on religious education but I guess I was wrong. It's been about seven years ago last time I was on there.

I believe that was degreeboard.com - no longer active, and yes, IIRC it had a religious schools section. I think events went something like this - Sheila Danzig bought the biz, decided to close the forum-part and tailored the rest of the site to her business purposes. I think the domain is gone now. Nope - it's been switched to www.thedegree.com . No forum.

Look Sheila up on Google, etc. You'll find she has played very interesting roles in the area of Distance Learning. You'll also find mention of her in the MIGS (Monterrey Institute of Graduate Studies) thread here on DI.

I'm more partial to the other forum that causes this forum to crash every time it's named. The members there tend to be more up to date because it constantly gets new members who are able to supply new information as they are currently in school. It used to be almost completely focused on the Big 3 and testing out. However, that forum has discovered and discussed many competency-based programs long before this one and now has a graduate school sub-forum. It is also a better source for community colleges with online courses/programs and independent study courses. Additionally, there are more active members there who are currently in or were in the military. This forum is better if you're looking for foreign schools or want to discuss unaccredited schools and other education-related news.

    Nice, that was it.

Thanks! I thought I was going crazier than usual. I was thinking it had a good section on it.

Good strategy! It's especially useful (and fun) when you get old. I'm 73 - I should know!
At this point, it can work for you even if people just think you're crazy...

I started degree.net. When my colleagues and I sold our education business to Pearson (Penguin, Prentice-Hall, Financial Times, The Economist, etc.), they also bought that name, then sold it, along with my degree books, to Ten Speed Press, which was thereupon bought by Random House, which forgot to renew it, and it was snapped up by a man in Vanuatu in the South Pacific, who thereupon sold it, and it has moved through several hands since. We had also bought the phone number 1-800-DEGREENET from a man named Ed Green who had, as I recall, a small wedding video service of that name and was willing to sell it for $5,000.

Interesting story. At one time degree.net had a robust forum but even 8 years ago was getting spam posters that were annoying. They still get posters over there that no one replies to...
