Hi, I've seen a few people share the experiences with the Project Management MS from Platteville, but I was wondering if the other emphases are technical enough to be considered 'real' engineering degrees. It looks like a good program, but I have a math background and not an engineering one so I don't know if I can be a proper judge.

    Thanks.

The Master of Science in Engineering program appears from first site visit not ABET accredited.
You need to decide if this will work for you.
The undergrad engineering programs are ABET accredited at UW - Platteville.
Is your undergrad Engineering degree accredited by ABET?

Here is what I like, its 100% online. They accept RA and may accept NA Engineering degree for admissions.

The online engineering degree program offers a flexible, individualized selection of courses to suit your specific goals. Choose a technical emphasis in one of the following areas:

    Engineering Design
    Applications in Engineering Management
    Control (Electrical) Systems
    Structural/Geotechnical Engineering
Elective options include courses in manufacturing, production, operations analysis, systems management, control systems, structural design, geosynthetics, and many other relevant, practical areas of study.

Tuition per credit regardless of residency: $650 (includes $30/credit nonrefundable tuition)
Textbooks are not included and costs will vary depending on the number of textbooks required for each individual course.
    So the cost is 650$ x 30 = $ 19,500 + text books etc (can be around $1000)

Thanks for your response (though I realize now how late my thanks is). My undergrad wasn't in engineering but rather an amalgamation of physics and math courses culminating in the fairly unhelpful designation of 'Natural Science and Mathematics', so I am a bit worried about the non-ABET undergrad aspect.

My ultimate goal is to gain employment with the government in some vaguely technical capacity. My hope is that I can knock the degree out in a year and nab an entry level job and I'm looking at this degree as an alternative to an MBA.

Will I just get strange looks if I apply to project management, supply chain or engineering design-type jobs (the technical emphasis part of this degree) without a bachelor's in engineering but with this master's?

You should be able to learn whether such programs have prerequisites. If they do then some will admit you contingent on completion of these preparatory courses. Others may let you in with an unspoken "sink or swim" philosophy.

Thanks for your reply. I've actually been accepted already. Classes start next week. I really just want to know if I can get a job without the requisite ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering degree.

If not, does it seem reasonable to be able to leverage the degree for a project engineering (entry level) job?
