Hello everyone, this is my first post to this forum. I am a Canadian who holds 3 year diploma in Business Administration - Information systems. I graduated in 96 and since then have taken a few courses from Athabasca University in Alberta.

I just enrolled at Charter Oak State College. I have sent the credit transfer request to both institutions.

I have a few questions regarding the credit transfer process.

How does Charter Oak decide that the courses I took are equivalent to a Charter Oak course?

What is the quality of the Charter Oak courses they offer now?

I have seven years of hi-tech experience (and counting), some of which should be acceptable for portfolio assessment. Is this done on a project base? Or language base like C++ or Java? Most of my experience has been in Telco and large Internet Data Center's.

Finally, what is the turn around time like with Charter Oak? Are they fairly responsive to getting my credits transferred?

    Thank you very much,

    Jason

COSC has a pretty good response time. However when my wife attended we made sure to stay on top of things and stay in constent contact with them. Her case was a little different. She had all her requirements going in except the paper they required her to write. We started her application in Oct. and they granted her degree in Jan. You should not have a problem with transfer credits because I think they accept everything that is RA.

My wife had gone to Liberty U., another private school, a Comm. College, and Central Michigan U. They accepted all of her credits from all of these schools. I am not sure how their courses run because she did not have to take any but you may be better off looking into credit for experience, testing out of your courses or taking courses at local colleges to transfer over. Once they review your transcripts they will let you know what you need to complete. Good luck!!
