They'd do very well to advertise where I spent my early years - Palmers Green, in North London. Palmers Green hosts the largest colony of Cypriots outside of Cyprus. When I left there (1952) there were absolutely none - as far as I knew, anyway. Nowadays, some call this area, one of London's northernmost suburbs "Palmers Greek" - although both Greek and Turkish Cypriots are well-represented.

When I left, I knew no immigrant children at all at my school or at play. No - there was one, actually. A Maltese boy - only met him once, when we were about six... A while ago, I was on the website of my elementary school and learned that these days 80% of the children attending have English as a second language.

And yes, it was the home (mail-drop) for the infamous "University of Palmers Green," part of the UDP scam in the 90s. IIRC, the mailbox was in a travel agency office about two blocks down the main drag (where I lived) - Green Lanes. No real universities in Palmers Green itself - but two higher-ed campuses quite near: the Wood Green campus of Middlesex University and also Southgate College, a short 329 bus-ride up Alderman's Hill.

Anyway - good luck to OUC and all its students. Glad to hear of it.
