There are thousands of colleges and universities for students to choose from, all promising a quality education. Yet it’s clear from the White House’s revised College Scorecard that graduates of some schools fare better in the job market than others. But why?

I think one's personal characteristics are more important than either, especially whether one has persistence and how good one is at networking.

I've seen executives with undergrad degrees in Art History (and no graduate degrees) while MBAs toil much further down the food chain.

As Steve points out, one's persistence and networking abilities are key. Also, one's skills beyond their formal education are going to play heavily. You have two business admin majors. One knows three programming languages and has a good mind for data analytics while the other is extremely passionate about marketing.

That same major can go in two very, very different directions.
