In response to my inquiry: "I am in Canada and I was wondering if the MAP, MBA and DBA programmes can be completed entirely by distance education without any residency requirements from my home nation?" I received two opposite responses. "I regret not. We are not a 'pure correspondence' university, and we do not accept students who are unable to attend lectures / seminars at our home base in Durban, or at our established satellite venues in southern Africa." Email from a Natal graduate business school professor vs: "Yes, you can!" Email from the Natal graduate business school office So which one is it? I will let you know.
I was once in a similar situation with the same school. A department head offered to allow me to do DL studies in his department despite their not having an "official" DL program. I'd suggest that if the head of the department wants it to happen then it's likely to happen. Be certain to ask lots of questions and get some assurance of your student status in writing. The last thing you'd want is to get 2 -3 years into your program, have the department head retire and then have the new department head say, "No more DL." Jack
An answer. "The correspondence that you got from Prof Lord is correct." EMAIL FROM THE NATAL GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS. Prof. Lord was the gentleman who told me you cannot complete the Natal MBA etc by DL.
