    Hi All,

I thought I would post this here as you are all experts in distance ed and searching for the right degree.

Been working to create a program that provides both an accredited degree and even tech skills if desired, (with online software coding bootcamps) at low to no cost PLUS have the ability to be accelerated in some way. In addition, since a lot of people struggle with completing online programs I thought it would be effective to have corporate mentors that support you during your pursuits.

The resulting program is like a charter school version of community college. The hope is that eventually this initiative goes away because community colleges and even universities will modify their on-site and on-line programs to do the same thing, which is to provide a low to no-cost, accelerated degree resulting in hard skills through an approach that’s cognizant of learning styles.

Our goal was to start the program as a pilot in Denver, but we’re toying with opening it up (United States only at current time). If you know someone with almost no credits, the Associates program could be of interest to them. If the person has an Associates, the Bachelor program (Communications major) might be of interest. This is a relatively new distance program for our partner college & I realize the degree major offered is limited to only a couple options, but the theory is that the major won’t matter because you’ll develop an area of customized expertise over the course of the program.

More details about what we’re trying to do here: EEP
More details about accredited degree portion here: College for America |

This is a grassroots efforts to find a better path to accessible, affordable, forward-looking education. Please let me know if you have any feedback or questions. Maybe you even know of better solutions that exist.

    Thanks for your time!

    Maria

Thanks Ted! It's getting exciting. We've raised some funds (we're a non-profit) to cover 1st year of tuition for those that need it AND have corporate mentors lined up. We have a lot of working adults & recent high school graduates excited that feel like they have better options now.

We'll see where it takes us!
