Under the original proposal (Feb 2002) Fort Hare was to be merged into Rhodes. Under the current proposal, Fort Hare and Rhodes remain separate, but Rhodes's East London satellite campus will be incorporated into Fort Hare (as will the Medical School from University of Transkei).
