Trying to help out a friend who is underemployed and a mountain of private student loan debt. They don't want a long-term master's degree. But, are underemployed. I suggested a short-term certificate program-- in marketing, business, something job-relevant- to try to get a better paying job. Maybe I'm a dreamer, but it seems like a good idea. What financial aid eligible online certificate programs are there? Friend is already working 60+ hours a week, living with roommates, etc. to cut costs and pay back his private loans. He's underemployed and I can't imagine him ever having a sustainable life making $12/hour, let alone save up for master's degree, a house, whatever (he's got a mountain of private student loan, and has never received so much as a dime of financial aid). He hasn't been able to find a better-paying job, and I'm convinced a short-term certificate program could help him, even if he's not up to committing 1-2 years for an entire master's program. Should he consider an online marketing or teacher certificate program?
