I also had a question about NJCU's Doctor of Science in Civil Security,

I have a Master's Degree with a 3.8 GPA and 5 years of experience in the criminal justice field. I was wondering, people who know anything about this program, how hard is it to get accepted or what kind of credentials are they looking for? I know they only accept 15-20 per year.

For future reference, it's customary to include a link to the program so this kind of guesswork is unnecessary. For others benefit, this is a hybrid program with residencies required. Here's what it says about admission requirements:

    Admission Requirements
•Completed master’s degree conferred by a regionally accredited institution
•CGPA of 3.50 or higher during graduate study
•Four years of relevant work experience
•Successful completion of any of the major graduate student assessment tests
    •Three letters of recommendation
    •Letter of interest
    •Official transcripts
•International students need official scores of TOEFL, including the Test of Written English
•Met all the minimum admission requirements of the Graduate Studies Office
•An interview may be required at the discretion of the Admissions Committee

Write a killer essay and get some knock-out references.

Okay will do and thanks. Anybody currently attending the program have some insight too? For references I was thinking maybe my Captain and two Professors.

From the description it sounds like they emphasize research and so the academic references would probably be a good choice.

I'm a student in the program who has just about completed all coursework and entering the dissertation stage soon. For my thoughts, see my post on a related NJCU DSc thread: http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/46241-new-jersey-city-university-dsc-civil-security.html

Otherwise, please private message me, and I can share my background with you. My advice: apply, or you'll never know!
