Thank goodness, because we haven't settled. (Hard when the guy isn't even represented by counsel.) "Moon" isn't what you might think. No details on the settlement, but it shows the perils of a school continuing to collect tuition while holding a student in abeyance. Sure, the school is supposed to be honest, but it's a bit of a conflict of interest. It's like being in a taxi and not being able to get out until the cabbie decides you're ready--while continuing to run the meter. The dissertation phase should be flat-rate, acknowledging that some students will take longer than others. In fact, I feel every graduate degree should be totally flat-rate.
