    Hello,
I have been lurking her for a while. I just applied to Excelsior this week. After additional research I think I would be better off and closer to my degree at TESC. Excelsior has receiving all but 1 of my official transcripts and I am guessing it will be another couple of weeks before an unofficial evaluation.
From all that I have gathered on this forum I think I should have applied to TESC instead of Excelsior based on my credits.

Can you look at my previous coursework and offer advice?
I am soooo close (113/120) to a BS Degree in Liberal Studies!

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Since you've already applied to Excelsior, I would wait to see how they evaluate your credits before spending money on another application fee. That is, unless you prefer that your degree to come from TESC; the "State College" in the name does lend instant credibility for many.

IIRC, Excelsior has more options for a Liberal Arts degree (B.A. or B.S.) vs. TESC, so that probably should also factor into your decision process as well.

As a graduate of Excelsior I'm biased but in my opinion you may be better off going with Excelsior since you want a degree in Liberal Studies. The BS allows up to 59 units of "professional' credit which means you can include courses from areas such as engineering, business, education, and criminal justice.

I suggest you do a self evaluation comparing your credits to those required (see https://my.excelsior.edu/documents/78666/292073/SLA+BS+Liberal+Arts/c48f36ae-653b-48a5-bb7b-95b19936b2c3).

You will have to take 3 units thought Excelsior and you can make up the rest by taking passing exams set by CLEP and DSST (the latter has exams in some subjects that provide upper division credit).

With my Excelsior BSLS I had no problem getting accepted by two grad schools.

I just looked at your list again:
EC requires 30 UD units for their BS program.
I notice you appear to only have one UD course (COM 321) which may be counted as an elective.
I doubt Excelsior will accept PED101.

You might want to consider getting an AA degree while you accumulate UD credits. An AA will give you something to show employers. Then relook at your options from EC and TESC.

Excelsior is a great choice. I did what Ian advises. I needed an AA right away for a job I wanted while I was still working on my BS at another school. Excelsior was so easy to work with on the AA that I transferred there for a BS in Liberal Studies and finished a year early.

    Thanks for all the advice.
I found several upper level courses I may be able to take thru Penn Foster so I may explore that option.
Question: wouldn't I have to pay for a A. A capstone and graduation fees by getting an associates degree first? With all of this being an out of pocket expense I don't see this being an option for me.

There have been many changes over the past 10-15 years. This forum is great for finding online programs, in general. It does not specialize in keeping up with the Big 3.

With your large number of business credits, you'll probably be better off with a business degree at any of the Big 3. COSC has a new BSBA. It will be easier to meet the UL requirements at TESC. If you take 24 credits worth of TECEPs, the total cost of the degree will be cheapest of any of the Big 3. If you don't want to take a lot of TECEPs, then COSC will be the cheapest option. It will also be easier to meet their business requirements.

As far as an associate's degree, all of Excelsior's associate's degree programs require a capstone. At $490 per credit hour (total of $1,470 for the capstone) and a $495 graduation fee, this will add a lot of cost to your journey of completing a bachelor's degree. COSC offers general studies associate's degrees that require a 3-credit cornerstone at $363 per credit hour plus a $257 student services fee. Their graduation fee is $205. TESC's ASBA, AA in Arts (this is just a liberal arts degree), and three ASNSM degrees do not require a capstone. If you take four TECEPs ($444 total), you won't have to pay an enrollment fee. The graduation fee is $312.
