I was recently accepted into CSU Global Campus and am very excited about finishing my degree at last. Has anyone here taken classes through CSU? I would love to hear anything you have to share. How many courses were you able to get through each term?

I thought about enrolling in their graduate certificate in accounting until I found out that Colorado State University Global Campus is an entirely different school from Colorado State University.

I just finished a B.S. in IT with CSU Global in 5/2015 and can share some experience:

-Each semester (Fall, Winter, Spring) is divided into 3 8-week terms (term A, B, and C). You can take up to 2 classes per term, and it requires approval from administration if you want to take 3 or more. I took 2 classes per term in the beginning, then took 1 per term towards the end, and still finished in 12 months.

-The system uses Blackboard learn, which I don't really like. Like typical online courses, each week you need to participate in discussion for participation points, and submit an assignment by Sunday night. The course workload depends on the class, but generally classes are not difficult. I graduated with a GPA of 3.86. I am single with no kids but I had a full time job and a part time job, so I spent most of my evenings studying. If you have other life obligations like family and children, maybe you can take 1 class per term.

-Most of my classmates are working full time, many are veterans. Most were able to handle the coursework it seems. I had no IT background prior to starting my degree, but I feel that I have learned a lot through the classes and classmates.

-I was not working in IT before CSU Global but since I started the program, I was able to get some CompTIA certifications, and eventually I became an acting IT tech support in my organization. I have also submitted job applications for IT positions and recently got a new job involving IT. I am not sure whether my potential employers like my degree or not, some seemed impressed, others were indifferent.

Overall, I liked the school for its affordability and name (not a strong reputation right now but it is a state-funded school).

Actually only 15% of its funding comes from State and Federal sources (plus of course the invisible freedom from real estate tax).

CSU claims it is ranked 60th of all USA educational institutions.
