Can anyone please tell, do most graduate programs require a GPA in your "major?" If so, if I go the portfolio route, TESC does not issue a GRADE (only Passed/Eq), and I am concerned about transfering into U of Central Florida. Any experiences here with TESC and Graduate programs? Your advice is trusted.

    Thank You

  2. Indiana State University simply required "acceptable" grades in my undergraduate CJ courses when I applied to their MS in Criminal Justice program, but *did* also consider my overall GPA. Since TESC didn't calculate it for them, ISU did it themselves. By the time the dust settled, the program was "waitlisting" new admissions.

National University looked at both a) my overall GPA and b) my GPA for the last 60 units of my TESC undergraduate program. Half of my "last 60" were ungraded; the school took no issue with this and effectively calculated my "last 60" GPA with only 30 graded units. No problem.

The University of Pennsylvania's MLA program considered my overall GPA. The ungraded classes weren't included in their calculations. No questions asked, no problems given. This was the only non-DL program I looked at. Their staff was the most receptive and responsive I'd encountered (destroying all of my preconceptions about Ivy League schools and their denizens) and also, alas, the most expensive by far.

Repeat as necessary for Utica College, Troy State University, and Vermont College. A pretty wide cross-section, from minimally selective (non-selective?) to very selective. Nobody cared specifically about my "major" GPA or was put off by my TESC degree.

Not a scientific survey by any means, but......
