    Hello All,

The last threads I have found on the topic of MLIS programs are a few years old. I am just completing my first Master's degree which was meant to be a companion to my MLIS. The cost and program requirements for my next phase institution however have changed. I expected to get a 15,000$ Master of Education and a 15,000$ MSLS which was about the cost of a traditional state school in my area combined. Secondary to the lowest price possible I am also looking for no required GRE and hopefully an optional practicum. In my state librarian licensure starts at a master's degree with no exceptions for combining credits in two feilds i.e. degree+librarianship certificate.

If someone knows of some laid back and cost efficient programs please let me know!

Second to MBA programs, MEd programs are the most plentiful DL grad program out there. Virtually every state university system has an online MEd program. There are so many that, like MBA programs, they had to start to specialize or develop areas of concentration. Do you have any area of specialization in mind?

You are looking specifically for a degree to be a librarian, right? If I understood your post correctly, there are some programs in Georgia that might work for you. Valdosta State, Georgia Southern, and the University of West Georgia all have affordable programs. The master's in school library media at UWG is about $13,000 altogether.

Does anyone have a opinion on San Jose State University? It seems to have the least restrictions and best price but I don't see any student reviews for the LIS major.

Thank you for mentioning W. Georgia but it is a MEd technically which my state won't accept for licensure...silly as that is.
