Anyone know schools that offer free or reduced tuition for people over the age of 55, and in the humanities fields?
MANY options for non-credit, too many to list, but zillions of community colleges have reduced fees for adult ed/continuing ed. For credit, I don't have any help, but the continuing ed avenue can produce some credentials- especially certificates. Worth a shot. PS if 55 really the new senior citizen age? I thought it was 65? I'm wayyyy closer to 55 than 65, so it's an important question.
My former school, LCO Community College, has free tuition for Elders 60 years of age or older: Student Service Regs. Shawn
In Massachusetts they call it the Categorical Tuition Waiver. This is only for state residents. Check for a similar program within your own state university system. Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance
In California it's either 62 or 65 - then you get significantly reduced tuition/fees at the state colleges if you are a resident.
I should have been more specific. I am looking for online graduate degrees in humanities fields that offer free or reduced tuition for people 55 years old and older. Here is one such program: Maranatha Baptist Seminary | Discerning Leadership for Critical Times Maranatha Baptist Seminary | Discerning Leadership for Critical Times
Perhaps you don't understand that people are coming as close as they can with their answers and that maybe what you're looking for, a free grad degree, simply doesn't exist.
But then again if you're in the right situation and persistent, it (free grad degree) may be possible (at least until people figure out that somebody has to pay and tighten up qualification rules): OLDER AND WISER | Home | The Advocate — Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Maybe you should read the title of my thread again. The program I posted the link to offers reduced tuition. So does Lindenwood University, my current school.
