I know there are some folks here who are doing MBA programs at Patten and a few have posted their thoughts on the undergrad program. Anyone enrolled in a Patten undergrad program at the moment? They're still fairly new so that adds to the difficulty. I tried and passed on Patten before because of the exams but now that I have over a year of distance learning under my belt, I'm giving it another shot. Straighterline was difficult for me too until I read what folks were saying on the forum and learned how to approach and do well there.

I'm thinking Patten has a lot to offer some so if there is any feedback it would help lots of folks, including myself. I have a little experience with them on an undergrad level also so I'm happy to chime in wherever I can.

  2. I'm interested as well. Just got their info (btw, discounted to $299/mo through isic.org). I just need some stupid General Ed that didn't transfer because my university wants to squeeze more money out of me. They're WASC-accredited. The only problem I see is with the proctoring -- you have to give them control of your computer to verify that no other windows are open (I'm not prepared to do that unless they will sign a statement of liability in case the proctor looks at other stuff while he's on.)

Can you tell me where you're seeing this? I looked at the site but didn't see it.

I've been interested in how they were going to handle tuition since they stopped enrollments with New Charter. New Charter was charging $199, I believe.

You could always hide your files. I'd consider that, because it's highly unlikely you'll get anyone there to sign your document.

I believe the software that is used is either GoToMeeting, or something very similar. As with any legitimate conferencing or remote control desktop software, it is very simple to stop the remote session, in the unlikely event that the outsourced gentleman from India starts perusing your files.

Many colleges & universities now use virtual proctoring. Patten uses Examity but ProctorU is the one more commonly used. I worked with ProctorU when I took classes at Straighterline and they were more invasive than Examity. I've never had any issues stemming from working with online proctors. I use the guest log-in on my computer so that my desktop isn't cluttered.
