Would anyone have any suggestions on where to take an online, preferably self-paced science class with a lab? With the stipulation that it must be from a regionally accredited institution.

Unfortunately my local community colleges do not have online labs.

You'll get a better answer if you can be more specific than "science." Chemistry? Physics? Biology? Also, what level courses do you need? Into? Upper level?

Environmental Science (A.S.) - Ocean County College (bio and chemistry courses can be taken individually. They also offer physics)

Thank you, I'll explain further. I'm in the process of trying to transfer to a prominent state university, in order to finish my bachelors degree. Unfortunately, I'm running into a few issues with credits transferring due to the fact that I earned my associates degree at an out of state community college. To complicate it further, my associates degree was earned as part of two formal U.S. Department of Labor recognized apprenticeships. Therefore, the bulk of my credits were trade related.

Thankfully, I've reached an agreement with the university to make an exception and acknowledge those credits along with my professional work history, and bring me in with merely 11 classes left to complete my bachelors. Of course there was a stipulation, I have to comply with their transfer policy and that requires me to take about 7 courses to meet their general education requirements for a transfer student. I've completed all but three at my local community college. Leaving me with the following:

Any Intro Science Course with a lab.

English Comp II - or an equivalent 200 level english course. Unfortunately I cannot attend in person at my local community college and they have no open spots in their online options this semester.

College Algebra - this is the one course I dread. While I've used geometry, trig, and algebra almost daily in my professional career for over a decade... it's been a long time since I've taken a formal math class and had to really grind out a math problem or deal with functions.

What I'm looking for are online options for these classes, preferably self-paced (I have newborn twins). Price may not be a huge issue, however low costs are of course preferable as I pay out of pocket for my education.

While not self paced - Clovis Community College has online lab courses in Chemistry and Biology for General Education. Cost is $89/credit hour + $40 technology fee + $50 online course fee. Total cost = $446. The Chemistry Course has an optional text for reference. You can get by with an older edition for the optional text. My 17 year old daughter just completed the course.

As far as math goes - I would look into the ALEKS College Algebra course. Here's how you ask the registrar about this:

"I am completing College Algebra via ALEKS by McGraw Hill." The credit will be posted on an American Council on Education (ACE) Official Transcript. Here is the evaluation of ALEKS College Algebra by ACE." http://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseaction=browse.getOrganizationDetail&FICE=1004997 (Warning - this link does not "play well" with Firefox). "Will this meet my College Algebra requirement?"

ALEKS is self-paced @ 19.95 month. Good luck.

    Good luck!

NMJC will have all of that for a great price if you can manage the regular schedule Tuition and Fees - New Mexico Junior College

The following should offer all three asynchronous and self paced:
around $475/course Schedule of Courses > Division of Extended Studies > Colorado State University-Pueblo
around $330/course Find a Course-Independent Study in Idaho-University of Idaho

And if the receiving institution will accept it, there is always credit by exam such as CLEP at around $35/credit most schools will accept at least a limited amount of CLEP CLEP - College Level Examination Program (CLEP) -Save Time. Save Money. Take CLEP | College Board CLEP Site

Okay, forget what I wrote above - those options would likely be overkill for you. I've heard Clovis CC is reasonably priced and easy to navigate. Best of luck.

Yeah, I'm reading, but I didn't have anything to add. I would have suggested the same as what Japhy already suggested. (I actually did my sciences that way).
Any and all my suggestions don't amount to anything if they aren't accepted by the college. I think it's a reach to use ALEKS or Straighterline. The acceptance of those credits is dismal.

Since the OP's local community college doesn't have distance learning, I'd look elsewhere in the state. 98% of all public community colleges do offer distance learning classes, so just search your state directory and start running down the list. Transferability will be soooooo much better than messing around with ACE or CLEP credit.
