    Hello,
I am new to this forum and am seeking some help. I am currently studying for my BA in Criminal Justice online at Columbia College (South Carolina). I have 10 classes left until I am finished with my degree, so I expect to graduate in Spring of 2016, God willing. I would eventually like to go into the Human Services field as a Victim Advocate, working with domestic violence and sexual assault victims. Thinking in the near future though, I would like to go into Human Services and work as a Social Services or Child Welfare Specialist at my local DHS office. I would like to compliment my BA degree with a certificate in Human Services (or something quite similar). Does anyone here know of any inexpensive online undergrad certificate programs in Human Services? I am looking for something that can be completed in less than a year, and costs less than 2-3k (I know, most likely impossible), because I am paying for this out of pocket.

Try copy/pasting the following search string in Google: certificate "human services" online site:.edu

Here's one option that jumped out at me (LSU has very reasonable tuition): https://is.lsu.edu/CreditCertificateProg.asp

Certificates in human services are offered at a number of community colleges. Regarding the discipline certificate and tuition economy; you may want to begin your search there.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but do you realize that you will be competing for jobs with a LOT of people who have a MSW degree? My daughter earned a BA in Social Welfare two years ago and has managed to find a good job, but it took her a year and a half to find it. And it's one of those jobs that requires a degree, but it can be any degree; her job has no relation to her education whatsoever.

Have you considered pursuing a Master's?
