Alright, I am biting on the bait but.... sigh.....there has to be some loyalty to one's alma mater.... troll or no troll.

Here is the web site for Webster University

    http://www.webster.edu

Founded in 1915 by the Sisters of Loretto it has international programs including in the People's Republic Of China, Austria, London, etc.

Here is the link for the Tier ranking (#28 in the Midwest among Masters level institutions which is in the Top Tier).

    http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/directory/drglance_2521.htm

Webster has recently begun an online MBA program and has an on campus DMgt program.

If Paul ever was truly enrolled or did not flunk out, I suggest he let the Regional Accreditor know his concerns including his stated belief that there is a vast politician/lawyer conspiracy in St. Louis.
Maybe the Regional Accreditor will send out Scully et al from the X files to do an investigation.

    Webster Nonsense!!!

    Dear North:

    As a St. louisan.

Webster was founded long ago, but be truthful, as a young ladies prep school! It advanced into a very small- tiny even- school of 200 young ladies. By 1967 the school, under the sisters of Loretto went bust...that's right bust...I believe the language used in the school's facts is "lack of internal funds" . The sisters had more than one school that had the same fate. The school was given to a "board" of local business owners and politicians, etc. that own it to this day- the real owners. How many of them work for "free"- i.e. non bonus?? Webster you describe died a long time ago, it it ever existed- in fact Webster was called Webster college. Not University. And the MBA was unheard of- until it was seen as another money maker to add to the MAT.

The diploma mill company you see now (for the last 20 years) is the reality. North, maybe you are an employee or vested board member??? You doest protest too much...far so. The cheap, ambiguous site of theirs is not a good thing to point people towards.

Have you even been to Webster's home campus- all 2 blocks of it?

Also, does anyone see any type of rankings for business programs on their site- proudly showing their place in Business School America. No hide nor hare. Besides most students/sales? Also, AACSB world HQ is 3 miles away- why does not Webster have it?

Let's have some Olin alum in on this.

    why all the campuses????

If such a good school, then why all the campuses all over the world- in shopping malls, high schools, etc. Take away the external "sites" and you have a place with not even 2000 students in St. Louis. SLU and Wash U have nearly 20,000 each! I wonder why not for Webster- which has been there as long as each, and has far more lax admin standards? Because Webster is a joke in its home city among many and had to "high tail" it outta town where few know its roots and real identity.

    Tell The Truth North,

    Paul

Either you're unaware of what a diploma mill is, or you are just being intentionally slanderous...

Have you seen Maryville University's Campus? What about Fontbonne? What about Lindenwood? What about Missouri Babtist? What about Concordia Seminary? What about Mckendree College?

Don't be foolish....the size of the campus or the enrollment has nothing to do with the quality of the education.

Obviously SLU and Washu are larger and arguably better, but that doesn't mean that Webster is a mill.

Take their masters level quantitative analysis class and then say it is a mill.

Paul - I don't know anything about Webster and whether your observations are reasonable or not, but there is a point to be made here.

AACSB and ACBSP have a place in measuring quality in business education. Students are advised to ask "Is your school AACSB or ACBSP accredited?". If not - I would ask a lot of questions and be leary of the institution. AACSB is, of course, the gold standard. ACBSP does a fair job, however.

Why pay good money to go to a school that isn't accredited by either AACSB or ACBSP, when you can go to a school that is accredited?

    Regards - Andy

    Re: Re: Webster Nonsense!!!

    Greetings Andy!

I do not know anything about business degrees (let me announce that from the start).

Paul S showed up here suddenly posting strange statements in all caps (a thread no longer here) calling Webster a mill and expressing concerns over a conspiracy between lawyers and politicans in St. Louis. He has an axe to grind. Aside from his vast conspiracy theory something else does not make sense. He claimed he completed 90% of the program and then quite. His profile says he is an MBA grad. So we are to assume that he plodded along through 90% of a very expensive program dropped it and then went on to complete another MBA program somewhere else and assumably got the normal 12 credit hours work of transfere. Does not make a whole lot of sense.

I am not arguing that Webster is Harvard but it is Top Tier overall as a Masters degree intitution (I realize that may not make the Business program Top Tier), it was founded in 1915 by the Sisters of Loretto (well known for education), and received Regional Accreditation in 1924.

Here is an article on the business school. I can assume from Paul's point of view the members of industry are part of his consiracy as well (as are assumably the military leaders who have graduated from the program). Sounds like the making of a book :D or a movie (I can see Morgan Freeman and Ben Affleck now).
